Sian’s Brownie Points Recipe (dairy-free)

In honour of my twenty-third birthday last week, I decided to bake up some brownies, as these are always a crowd pleaser and the recipe has been my go-to for over 5 years now (it’s that good!). As a student, and even now, I would rather not waste my chocolate melting it into any form of baking that’s not an icing or drizzle, which is why I love this recipe so very much! Instead, my chocolate gets Continue reading

Coconut, lemon and blueberry torte (dairy & gluten free)

Suddenly it’s a scorcher of a week in the middle of April, enough to get me in the mood to┬ábake a summery pud. I just acquired a copy of Ottolenghi’s Sweet, and it’s from flicking through his book that I got the idea for this cake. I adapted it from his ‘Coconut, Almond and Blueberry Cake’, but made it Continue reading

A Broke Girl’s Millionaire’s Shortbread Cups

Catching July on the cusp, here I am. I’m currently working with a lot of cookbooks and so I thought I would try to get back into baking (I haven’t really baked since the last post on here, would you believe?) and bake an actual recipe without playing with it too much? I still added cinnamon to cut through the caramel layer, but I followed Nadiya’s recipe to a tee from her new book otherwise. Looking forward to Continue reading

*Filipino inspired* Ube Yam Cheesecake

Hello. How is it already February? My last post in January seems like it was eons ago. After a mini hiatus after a lot of Christmas baking, I’m back with a new kinda flavour that I’ve only had a handful of times, mostly in Korea. It’s a hard flavour to find, but thankfully Continue reading

Labor Day Loaf (dairy-free, gluten-free, no refined sugar)

August is coming to a close and soon autumn will start creeping upon us. University has already started in the US and I’ve been watching the new freshmen move into their dorms and my roommates into their houses and it’s been painful. I’m counting down the days until Continue reading

Turning 21 with a Vegan Chocolate Birthday Cake

It’s pure fate that I left America at the bitter age of 20 and turned 21 here. 21 in England is only a milestone age because it came across the pond from America, you can’t do anything new. In America, 21 is when the world is suddenly Continue reading

California raisin protein granola (dairy-free, sugar-free, vegan)

I’m always on the lookout for healthy recipes and my sister suggested we make granola because it was easier and cheaper than buying the stuff, with half the sugar too! So I figured, why not make this a ‘Cali themed’ post with some healthy, refined sugar free granola, made with jumbo oats, protein powder, pecans, walnuts and california raisins. I find eating sugar makes me hungry again really quickly, while this granola is a lot more wholesome and filling, and makes a Continue reading
