Sian’s Brownie Points Recipe (dairy-free)

In honour of my twenty-third birthday last week, I decided to bake up some brownies, as these are always a crowd pleaser and the recipe has been my go-to for over 5 years now (it’s that good!). As a student, and even now, I would rather not waste my chocolate melting it into any form of baking that’s not an icing or drizzle, which is why I love this recipe so very much! Instead, my chocolate gets Continue reading

Coconut, lemon and blueberry torte (dairy & gluten free)

Suddenly it’s a scorcher of a week in the middle of April, enough to get me in the mood to¬†bake a summery pud. I just acquired a copy of Ottolenghi’s Sweet, and it’s from flicking through his book that I got the idea for this cake. I adapted it from his ‘Coconut, Almond and Blueberry Cake’, but made it Continue reading

Sticky Spiced Chocolate Cake (dairy-free)

As I leave my student days behind me, I’m becoming increasingly busier. As a result, I’m lacking the time to write recipes, bake and shoot, all with enough daylight to get some decent images! But as I get into my first ever career job (and my dream one at that), I’ve been baking more at the weekends knowing that Continue reading

A twist on the cinnamon roll: Kanelbullar

I don’t bake bread often. It’s such a faff, you need the yeast and the strong flour which I never ever seem to finish before their expiry dates. But as my parents were out of town, my house is eerily empty and I had a little free time on my hands on a Sunday afternoon, I decided to make some of my favourite Swedish¬†treats, usually saved for Continue reading

A Broke Girl’s Millionaire’s Shortbread Cups

Catching July on the cusp, here I am. I’m currently working with a lot of cookbooks and so I thought I would try to get back into baking (I haven’t really baked since the last post on here, would you believe?) and bake an actual recipe without playing with it too much? I still added cinnamon to cut through the caramel layer, but I followed Nadiya’s recipe to a tee from her new book otherwise. Looking forward to Continue reading

The ‘you can never have too much caramel’ Birthday Cake

Baking is pretty much impossible without a working oven, who’d have thought? So when my landlord finally come around to replace the oven with a shiny new one (THAT ACTUALLY WORKS AND DOESN’T BURN EVERYTHING ON THE BOTTOM) I leapt at the chance to do a ‘test run’. As its mine and a few friends birthday events coming up, I started with Continue reading
